About the Author
John Barnett
Selected as a delegate to the 2005 White House Conference on Aging, John Barnett is a cancer survivor, an ombudsman advocating for the rights of nursing home residents, an instructor in chronic disease self-management, and a trained bereavement worker who has helped people to explore their grief and to assess their own recovery after the death of a spouse. As a balance to his work with the ill and the aging, John Barnett runs Youth Tennis Outreach in Seattle's inner city and leads tours of Seattle's Arboretum and the Japanese Garden. He works out at a health club several times each week. He has two grown children and lives with his wife in Kirkland, Washington.
